General Information
Venturers,
We will be riding our bikes on Wednesday night. You will be able to demonstrate your Outdoor Adventure Skills badge requirements (cycling).
Venturers will travel together to ensure a safe activity, the distance of this bike ride will be approx. 15km, on bike paths with several local road crossings. The bike route will follow bike paths from Bella Vista Farm towards Rouse Hill, we will have a break at Caddies Creek Reserve and then return to Bella Vista Farm.
Two leaders will be bike riding with the Venturers. Venturers must wait and cross at the local road crossings. Venturers who turn up without front or rear lights will not be permitted to ride.

Riders will depart from and return to Bella Vista Farm. If the gate is locked at pick up we will meet on Elizabeth Macarthur Drive.
Wet Weather:
This event will NOT run in the rain.
In the event of rain on the night, the event will be cancelled. Cancellation will be advised by WhatsApp message.
Please Bring:
You will need a few extra items to participate.
MUST HAVE:
You will not be allowed to ride without these.

WORKING FRONT AND BACK BIKE LIGHTS (BATTERY POWERED, NOT JUST REFLECTORS)
- Make sure they are charged/fresh batteries before you leave

A BIKE THAT HAS BEEN ADJUSTED AND CHECKED USING THE ABCDQ METHOD BELOW.
Highly recommended:
- A high visibility/reflective vest or shirt
- High-vis, reflective or illuminated backpack, helmet, or anything to help you be seen at night.
- A backpack with:
- A small in-field repair kit (spanners, screwdriver, etc)
- A puncture repair kit
- Additional torch or headlamp (for you)
- Water bottle
- Personal snacks
- First Aid Kit
- Insect Repellent
Bike Maintenance: ABCDQ
Please check and adjust your bike before you arrive.

Air: Check tyre inflation. Generally should be between 30-50PSI for most BMX or mountain bikes.

Brakes: Ensure they bring the bike to a stop. Brake pads should be clean, straight and contact the rims properly.

Chain, Cranks & Cogs: Spin the pedals and cranks to ensure the chain drives the rear wheel. The chain should look like metal not rust or black gunk.

Derailleurs & Drop Test: Check to make sure the gear levers and derailleurs (gear-changing mechanism) work to shift the chain between gears. Lift the bike vertically and drop it back onto its wheels to make sure everything is attached properly.

Quick Release: Check all quick releases are closed and tight, especially front wheels, rear wheels and seat poles.

- will be under direct adult supervision (Matt & Andrew will be riding with the Venturers)
