About
Yasmin Kelsall, an ecologist with more than 20 years experience working with native vegetation in government, non-government and consultant roles, will provide an introduction to the Habitat Hectare methodology in accordance with the Vegetation Quality Assessment Manual v. 1.3 and relevant updates.
This day in the field is for those with little or no Habitat Hectare Assessment experience. This day will include a session on background and introductory information, including:

- Background to the method and subsequent updates

- Ecological Vegetation Classes and help in choosing which one is the best fit

This will be followed by an afternoon session with a focus on conducting a Habitat Hectare Assessment. In the field, we will learn how to complete a Habitat Hectare or Vegetation Quality Assessment. This will also include:
- Familiarisation with the Lifeform Checklist and VQA Field Assessment Sheet
- Differences between assessing treed vs treeless vegetation
Attendees will receive:
- a ‘tips and tricks’ sheet
- copies of all the field sheets and paperwork for the assessment.
