Poetic Texts from the Ghettos and Camps
About
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Dr Miriam Trinh speak on the relatively neglected topic of poetic writing by ordinary Jews during the Holocaust. Engaging with texts written in ghettos and camps, in Yiddish, Polish, German and Hebrew, she asks what the texts teach us about the different responses of West and East European Jewry. Reflecting on this very special corpus of Khurbn testimony gives us the opportunity to pay homage to those who clung to the word - even in the deepest abyss.NOTE: This lecture is in Yiddish.
With special thanks to Yiddish Australia for making Dr Trinh available. This event is co-presented with the Bund and ACJC at Monash University.
