Walhalla Masonic Lodge, Mine Meeting.
About
Join Walhalla Freemasons for the ultimate gold mine experience, the world-famous Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine started production in 1865 ceasing production in 1914. The mine’s 8.5 kilometres of underground workings extend to a depth of 923 metres below the machinery chamber which in turn is some 150 metres below the natural surface. The Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine produced 13.7 tonnes of gold until its closure in 1914, driven in part by a shortage of man-power and the First World War. This Lodge meeting will commemorate the miners who gave their lives working in the mines at Walhalla. Meet at the Walhalla Masonic Lodge at 10.00am for a short walk to the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, Tyle at 10.30 am in the mine. The South will be held at the Walhalla Lodge, after the mine meeting.Date
