The NSW AIPI Chapter has the pleasure of presenting:
'The Accuracy and Perceived Credibility of Eyewitnesses' by Dr Helen Paterson
Session Description: Eyewitness testimony is commonly used as evidence in court and is one of the most persuasive forms of evidence for juries. However, many psychologists argue that eyewitness memory is not as reliable as the layperson may believe. This talk will involve a series of interactive activities designed to illustrate how various factors can influence the reliability of eyewitnesses. Psychological research will be summarized, with a view to helping attendees understand the limitations and vulnerabilities of eyewitness evidence. Finally, we will discuss best practice techniques for preserving accurate memories.
