THE PLAY
ABOUT:
THE PLAY is a bold and original musical tackling some of the most urgent issues facing today’s youth—bullying, mental health, grief, gang culture, and the struggle for identity and empowerment. Created and written by Brian Montgomery, the story follows 14-year-old BULLIED BOY Harry Groves, who turns to songwriting and theatre to cope with the heartbreaking loss of his autistic sister. What begins as a form of healing evolves into a powerful movement of resilience and change
Set to a stunning score of twenty original songs—blending rap, rock, ballads and contemporary pop—THE PLAY delivers an emotionally charged theatrical experience that doesn’t shy away from the realities young people face. More than just a performance, this is a platform for young voices to be heard and celebrated, inspiring self-expression through drama, music, and creative arts.
WITH STELLAR SUPPORT ACTS INCLUDING RISING STARS BIRDLAND, A MOVING SOLO PIANO PERFORMANCE BY THE GIFTED JASMINE WILLIAMS, AND THE MAJESTIC ORCHESTRATION OF NORTHERN LIGHTS MUSIC WA, THIS SHOWCASE SHINES A SPOTLIGHT ON THE BEST EMERGING TALENT FROM ACROSS WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
Aimed at audiences aged 12 and up—including students, educators, and community leaders—THE PLAY is a must-see event that sparks conversation, fosters hope, and empowers the next generation through the transformative power of live performance.
