The story of Nijinsky, the Russian Dancer, is a tale of brilliance and despair. Like many geniuses, his psyche was overflowing with an intense creativity and dramatically affected his mental health, yet his ideas stood at the vanguard of modernism. In later years he has been recognised as the initiator of neoclassicism in dance and the instigator of the Twentieth Century School of Modern Dance.Jill Rivers launches her biography The Genius of Nijinksy in conversation with Principal Repetiteur and National Touring Associate at the Australian Ballet Steven Heathcote AM at our Richmond store next week.
