Join Steamrail Victoria as we operate the heritage 'Red Rattler' Tait Train on shuttles to Showgrounds Station in conjuction with the AMRA 53rd Model Train Show on Sunday 3rd August 2025.
Sit back in comfort and style onboard our heritage train and wave to lineside photographers and surprised commuters as we travel with the windows down for that old-school Air Con experience. Relive the 20th Century commute on one of Melbourne's most scenic lines with an express run between Flinders Street and Showgrounds, with the Taits doing what they did best from 1919 until 1984.
Visit the model railway exhibition at your leisure or just come for a train ride through Melbourne's inner west.

Held on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2025 at the Melbourne Showgrounds, Town Square Pavilion 08.
Doors are open 9am – 4pm
- General admission $20.00
- Children under 16 are free when accompanied by a paid ticket
Tickets are available at the door or via the Model Train Show Trybooking page.
Train ride does not include entry to the exhibition.
Alternate entry is via Gate No 5 via Langs Road, Ascot Vale.
