Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation Community Wills Day

Create Your Will and Support Families in Need - Book now
Caring for families is at the heart of everything we do here at the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation. That's why we are proud to invite you to be part of our Community Wills Day.
At the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation, caring for families is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to invite you to take part in our Community Wills Day – a meaningful opportunity to plan ahead while supporting the wellbeing of women, children, and families across South Australia.
Every adult Australian should have a valid, up-to-date Will. It ensures your wishes are respected and provides peace of mind that your loved ones will be cared for when you're no longer here. Without one, your estate may not be distributed according to your intentions.
During this special event, you can have a simple, legally valid Will written or updated by a qualified lawyer for a significantly reduced fee – just $120 for individuals or $180 for couples (normally valued at $600), plus a small online booking fee of $0.50. All proceeds support the work of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation.
This event is proudly supported by Mellor Olsson, a trusted South Australian law firm, generously donating their time and expertise to help our cause.
Whether you're writing your first Will or revising an existing one, there's no better time to take this important step. You'll be planning for your future while also helping to support South Australia’s only specialist children’s hospital
After providing for your loved ones, you may wish to consider leaving a gift in your Will to support the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation. We are happy to provide further information in confidence and with no obligation. Please get in touch by calling 08 8464 7900 or emailing bequests@wchfoundation.org.au.

What is a Simple Will?
A Simple Will is usually appropriate for people who have common assets such as a bank account, property, or superannuation; a simple family structure such as one spouse and children, or people who are single and childfree; and a reasonably small list of people who they would like to include as beneficiaries.
If your circumstances are complex (see below) and a Simple Will does not meet your needs, or you require additional services such as a Power of Attorney or Advanced Care Directive, the solicitor will discuss these options with you at your appointment and will reduce any further fees by your initial contribution amount (e.g. $120 for an individual).
What is a Complex Will?
Complex Wills take longer for our volunteer solicitors to prepare. These are typically Wills that include features such as a family trust or that make provision for blended families. If you think you may need a Complex Will, our solicitors will be happy to discuss your situation at an appointment and will provide you with a quote on how much extra this will be, taking into account your initial contribution to the WCH Foundation.
How does this Community Wills Day work?
1. Book and pay online to secure your spot. You will receive a confirmation email with a Client Information Form. Complete this form and bring it with you on the day.
2. Complete your Client Information Form and bring it to your appointment with photo ID.
3. Attend your appointment, where your solicitor will review your Client Information Form, confirm your wishes and discuss any other queries you may have.
After your appointment, you will receive a letter of engagement from Finlaysons to confirm your wishes, and then you will be sent a draft copy of your Will. You can then visit the Finlaysons Lawyers office to sign your Will and have it legally witnessed. Finlaysons will also store your Will at no extra cost.
Do I have to include a gift to the WCH Foundation?
All gifts left to the WCH Foundation are gratefully received, but of course there is no obligation to do so. If you'd like to learn more about supporting our work with a gift in your Will visit wchfoundation.org.au/bequests or contact us for a confidential discussion.
Will my appointment be with a solicitor?
Yes, your appointment will be with a qualified and independent solicitor from Finlaysons Lawyers. Finlaysons are giving their time for free and all proceeds from this event are supporting the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation.
What does it cost?
This event offers a Simple Will for individuals for $120 and $180 for couples. This is a significant reduction (normally $600) and makes getting a legally valid professional Will more accessible to South Australians in our community.
