DNA Painter Workshop (Online)
So you want to start mapping your chromosomes – but how? Join us for this hands-on online workshop and learn how to get the most out of DNA mapping.
As well as covering some of the features of DNA Painter, Carmel Dundon will demonstrate the value of a duplicate map that records matches where the common ancestor is not known. You will be shown how to manipulate DNA match segments to reflect an earlier MRCA match, enabling you to create a more accurate genetic map. You will be supported to practice these skills throughout the workshop, with ample opportunity for Q&A.
This workshop requires attendees to already have a basic understanding of DNA Painter’s chromosome mapping tool. You must also have already created an account and uploaded your family tree to the DNA Painter website. Please read this introduction to chromosome mapping. The recording of the GenealogySA webinar Introduction to Chromosome Mapping using DNA Painter will be sent to all attendees after registration.
Participants are also invited to submit questions for the presenters via email no later than one week prior to the workshop.
This workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced participants. To attend this workshop, participants must have:
• An account with DNA Painter
• A family tree uploaded or entered onto DNA Painter
• A laptop or tablet device capable of a Zoom call and opening a spreadsheet
