KSHS International Women's Day Breakfast

About
It is with pleasure that we invite parents and daughters of Kenmore State High School to our 2025 International Women’s Day Breakfast.
The breakfast is an opportunity to meet other parents and students, celebrate women’s achievements and discuss challenges still faced, and how together we can #MarchForward - For ALL Women and Girls - on International Women's Day (IWD) and beyond. This Parent & Daughter Breakfast will have a focus on women but all Kenmore SHS students are welcome to attend.
Meet our Guest Speaker - Professor Kylie Tucker
Professor Kylie Tucker is the Director of Teaching and Learning in the UQ School of Biomedical Sciences. Kylie is a researcher, a teacher and an inspirational human.
Professor Kylie Tucker fosters research on muscles and movement control. Her work has advanced understanding of pain's impact on movement, muscle force estimation, and childhood movement control.
Recently, Kylie has drawn on her fundamental science knowledge to propose a shift in our understanding of the potential drivers of scoliosis progression. Approximately one child in every Australian classroom, and 3-7% world-wide, will develop adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. There is no known cause, nor strong evidence to determine when or where to target non-invasive treatment. Her group have identified unique, targetable muscle features, that can be non-invasively detected early in curve progression.
In addition to her research, she teaches across 10 UQ programs and influences teaching outcomes as the Director of Teaching and Learning for the School of Biomedical Science. Kylie also co-facilitates UQ's flagship Career Progression for Women program and serves as President of the International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology (ISEK).Kylie has contributed to the leadership of this society since 2018.
A light breakfast and refreshments will be provided.
We look forward to welcoming Kenmore State High School parents, caregivers and daughters to this special event.
