Dr. Larkin is a native of Omaha Nebraska and a graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry. Having worked both as a clinician in private practice and as a professor in two Universities, Dr Larkin brings a unique blend of common sense and practicality to his work. He has written two books on dental practice management and two on oral wellness.  After attending the Bale/Doneen preceptorship in 2013, he began to develop curriculum to help dentists incorporate advanced preventive protocols centered around the science of oral-systemic connection.

He is the founder of Proactive Oral Wellness (powhygiene.com), a coaching and implementation web site for the most advanced approaches in preventive dentistry. He co-hosts a podcast called Hygiene Superstars and most recently began an annual symposium of thought leaders from around the world called oral systemic mastery.

The Larkin Protocol: The Tools and Techniques of Advanced Preventive Dentistry

In this presentation Dr Larkin will discuss the transformation of a traditionally based hygiene program to a wellness-based model. By embracing the current knowledge of the impact of oral health to overall health, Dr Larkin has created a blueprint of culture, tools and techniques that transforms the focus to a more proactive patient centric model. The Larkin Protocol, which Dr Larkin describes as an oral microbiome optimization program provides a much needed framework for dental implant maintenance and the ongoing management of oral dysbiosis.

• The connection between systemic disease and oral pathogens and what that means for your patients.

• How to integrate salivary diagnostics into your traditional hygiene workflow

• Review of the newest approaches in dental hygiene including phase contrast microscopy, air polishing and diode laser therapy
