Despite what many may think, people enjoy having sex into old age and those living with dementia are not exempt from engaging in purposeful sexual activities. For those living in aged care where sexual consent capacity may be compromised, issues arise for providers when trying to balance between supporting the sexual rights of people, whilst trying to keep them safe from harm. With the new Strengthened Aged Care Standards looming and without polices or guidelines to help navigate these situations, we explore what could be done to support and protect the next generation of older adults as they enter the care system.How to join
