Join us for the launch of The Southern Concert! A new baroque ensemble on period instruments, based in the Bega Valley and consisting of core members Stephen Freeman (violin), Odette Bruinzeel (viola) and Rosalind Halton (harpsichord).For our first program, Lauren Davis (violin) and Clara Teniswood (cello) will be joining us from Canberra.
For the four-part works of Alessandro and Francesco Scarlatti, we will be using critical editions by Scarlatti scholars Rosalind Halton and Chris Hair. Complementing these works are a solo harpsichord piece by their father, Domenico Scarlatti, as well as three- and four-part works by contemporaries Evaristo dall’Abaco and George Frideric Handel.
The duration of the concert will be appr. 1 hour without interval.
