Writers Meeting & Workshop
About
The first hour is literally just a writers meeting. We meet, we write.To unpack a little; usually we have a quick chat about what everyone’s working on, I give a prompt word or two for anyone who would like to use it, and then we just write quietly for twenty minutes, come back for a check-in and then repeat.
The second hour is the workshop. We workshop the work!
Specifically, we go round the ‘room’ and everyone (who wants to) can read, sing, speak an extract of their writing, show their artwork, or have someone else read it aloud for them. The person putting their work forward says what type of feedback they’re looking for (please be gentle / go hard / I’m looking for punchlines / does this image work? / here’s what I think I’m doing, is it coming across?) I give some thoughts. The rest of the room gives their thoughts, reactions, feedback, suggestions.
