Writing gives each of us a voice. For EAL/D students, writing can allow them to share stories, thoughts and knowledge, which can be hard for them to express - not just because of language barriers, but because of social and cultural barriers that imply that silence may be safer. In this workshop, Misty will share practical strategies for EAL/D writing instruction that is both highly scaffolded, but also liberating for our learners.Dr Misty Adoniou is an Associate Professor in Language Literacy and TESOL at the University of Canberra. Her extensive experience includes being the lead writer of ACARA’s EAL/D teacher resource and she was a contributing writer for ACARA’s Language Learning Progressions.
