Sumi-e is a simple, yet elegant art form handed down to Japan from China. Artists use a minimal amount of brush strokes to create subtle ink paintings to capture the essence of the subject. You will learn how to prepare your own ink using a Sumi-e Ink stick and stone, and brush techniques to create traditional Japanese ink painting (Sumi-e) on rice paper. Also, you will learn how to capture the essence of objects from nature, and express them with your interpretation.
