Session with U.S visitor Dr John Drazan - Basketball to STEM

About
Dr. John Drazan is an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Fairfield University, Connecticut, USA. He studies the relationship between muscle structure and function to understand how muscles remodel in response to aging, injury, or training. He received his undergraduate degree in physics from SUNY Geneseo (2012), his Master's and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2017). He completed a NIH IRACDA Postdoctoral fellowship at the Human Motion Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania (2021). His research in biomedical engineering is focused on building mobile research tools to enable data collection outside the traditional lab to perform more representative musculoskeletal research. As a former collegiate basketball player whose love of basketball motivated his scientific career, Dr. Drazan has developed innovative STEM outreach programming to engage youth basketball players to STEM through sports performance training.
