SMGS Winter Academy - Buying a First Car (Years 9-12)

About
Your first car is so much more than just a mode of transport; it represents freedom and responsibility, a safe space all to yourself, and for some their passion and a hobby. Regardless of what car you end up behind the wheel of, a motor vehicle represents a significant outlay and ongoing cost for any young person; it's usually their first big purchase in life. The last thing you want is to save up and buy a car that turns out to be unreliable, unsafe, damaged, or simply not what you really needed/wanted!This workshop is intended to provide young people with the skills and knowledge needed to identify and purchase a suitable first car. By the end of this workshop, participants will have also gained some valuable transferrable life skills (e.g. in managing and leading conversation).
Please note, this workshop that requires active participation; students are expected to contribute to group work and discussion.
