Out-of-the-box Seating Solutions Workshop

Do you have a client requiring a seated mobility option with postural and/or pressure care needs? This hands-on workshop will demystify “out-of-the-box” seating and mobility solutions available for prescription. You will explore the features, limitations, clinical applications, environmental considerations and total cost of ownership of a variety of wheelchairs, cushions and positioning devices.

Learning Objectives:

Increase awareness of non-scripted wheelchair and scooter options and how they can meet individual mobility goals.
Integrate the principles of seating and positioning into “out of the box” wheelchair solutions.
Develop familiarity with a variety of cushions, including properties and clinical applications.
Understand customisation options available for cushions.
Explore the use of postural support products and their compatibility with non-scripted seating options.

Annette is a well-known clinical educator and respected occupational therapist who speaks at healthcare events across Australia. She has over 35 years of industry experience and has worked extensively as a clinician and consultant in the aged care sector. As Clinical Educator and Trainer for Unicare Health, she facilitates product and clinical training for allied health professionals, enabling them to become more proficient equipment prescribers.

Her passion surrounds pressure injury care, manual handling, mobility and seating, leading to her participation in National and International Conferences and Events to keep abreast of the latest developments in these areas.

Annette has significant clinical expertise in prescribing assistive technology to facilitate safe and effective manual handling, seating and positioning, falls prevention, dementia care, mobility and pressure injury prevention, and has assisted hundreds of other therapists in making better-informed decisions when prescribing equipment.
