The New Rampant Optimism Roadshow rolls on, a revue type concert dreamed up by Melbourne/Naarm–connected songwriters Ned Collette, Leah Senior, and Michael Beach and featuring as guest of honour, Boston USA’s Thalia Zedek, of legendary rockers Come and her own heavy and beautiful solo albums.Born of a desire to free up the format and bring some levity to the threat of the intense-but-dour songwriter concert experience, NRO aims to re-introduce some surprise to proceedings, everyone playing together, no particular order, no support act, irreverent chaos amongst fellow travellers; a handful of songs from each scattered here and there like seeds in a psychedelic forest. Thalia's aching rasp and Beach’s rock growl against the light and colour of Senior’s folk-songs; the dark intricacy of Collette’s composition in a band that jams.
