Chasing The Moon returns to Leichhardt Bowlo for the first time this year after their scheduled Sat 24th May show had to be cancelled at short notice because of a double booking by the venue!Six-piece Sydney band, Chasing the Moon presents a feast of Manouche and Latin inspired music, drawing on the traditions of Django Rheinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, and embellishing them with Latin flavours.
The band plays with energy and passion, bringing a freshness to the way different styles are combined, a mix of hot club with the blues, a touch of folk, Latin rhythms, plus lashings of swing and modern elements too. The vocals soar over arrangements that are original and provide just the right framework for each musician to shine.
The band: Kathy Bluff: violin & lead vocals; Garry Steel: accordion; Paul Burjan: clarinet, soprano & tenor sax; John Blenkhorn: guitar & mandolin; Stan Valacos: double bass; & Mike Quigley: drums.
