About
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver at Coogee or anywhere else in Australia. You will learn surf skills, resuscitation techniques, basic first aid, rescue techniques, and more.Info Night: Monday 18 August 2025

Classroom: Tuesdays 6.30 - 9pm, 16 September to 28 October 2025
Beach: Saturdays 8 - 10am, 20 September to 1 November 2025
Assessment Part A: 4 November 2025
Assessment Part B: 8 November 2025
Graduation: 9 November 2025
Candidates need to be able to attend 80% of the course to be eligible for assessment.
To qualify for the Course you need to:
• Be aged 15 years old or over
• 400m swim in the Ocean in 9 mins or under
