From an Indian riverbed thousands of years ago to the Tower of London – this is the fascinating story of the Koh-i-Noor, the ‘Mountain of Light’, the most famous diamond in the world. This story is not only intriguing but also full of surprises. The Koh-i-Noor has been the subject of desire, jealousy, intrigue, passion and political chicanery. The talk follows the journey of this fabulous diamond from the depths of early Indian history, throughout the bloody history of the Mughals, to the power and politics of the British Empire.
