THE IMPACT OF TRAUMA & THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALING

When we have experienced trauma our psyche adapts by ‘splitting’ into parts.
 Most commonly:

* Traumatised or hurt parts
= The parts of us that hold the unresolved pain/fear in our brain AND body/nervous system

* Protective or Survival parts
= The parts that help us to cope with the trauma/pain/fear by blocking, suppressing, controlling or avoiding our hurt parts, or other behaviours that may help at the time but become a barrier to our true selves later in life.

These protective or survival parts usually consist of avoidance or controlling behaviours such as: insecure attachment patterns (avoidance or anxiety), addictions, need to be in control, self-sabotage, caretaking, people pleasing, rescuing, invulnerability, manipulation, self-criticism, judgment, defensiveness, co-dependence, hyper-independence, ‘masks’ that hide who you really are/how you feel, and so many more.

The combination of these parts can create stress responses, anxiety, depression, shutdown, etc.

Whilst this process of ‘splitting’ into parts helps us to cope and survive at one point in our life, it later keeps us stuck, blocked or repeating painful cycles (especially in relationships). This keeps us separate from our wholeness, in survival mode and not fully stepping out of the past and into the future. This is a painful impact of trauma and why healing is so important!

HOW THIS WORKSHOP WILL SUPPORT YOUR HEALING

The good news is, healing after trauma is absolutely possible!
If you are drawn to healing work, this means you also have core parts of you that yearn to heal, move forward, recover your true self and embody your authenticity & wholeness.

Through this workshop you will gain a powerful insight into what resides at the core of a trauma or a current life challenge/pattern and the protective or coping parts that are trying to keep you safe – but are hindering your growth and expansion. You will then be supported to process and release the underlying pain that keeps you stuck; freeing up space, energy & personal power to move forward.

This work is so powerful because of the group healing that takes place and the deep body-based approach that allows you to get to the core of the issue and restore safety in the nervous system.

'When clients feel overwhelmed by trauma, talk alone isn't going to do very much. We have to go to the unspoken voice of our bodies.'
— Peter Levine, developer of Somatic Experiencing®

The group will support you to see what has been residing in your unconscious, so that you can go deeper than you’ve been before. This is designed to be an emotionally evocative workshop – to bring to the surface what you need to see, feel or release – which is done in a very gentle and profound way.

This workshop is designed for anyone who:

PARTICIPANTS/REPRESENTATIVES:

There are a maximum of 4 participants – who will each get their own process, one at a time, supported by the group.
And up to 3 extra ‘representatives’ who enter the group healing field to provide insights and reflections as support for the participants who are processing.

As a representative you are able to witness the processes and are very likely to experience your own healing (one person's healing becomes everyone's healing!), as well as deep experience in trusting your own intuition and deepening embodiment. There are no specific 'skills' required to be a representative - just an open heart, open mind and a willingness to get vulnerable and show up in support others. It will also offer you the opportunity to experience the structure of the workshop before deciding if you'd like to be a partipant next time.
