2025 Advocacy Weekend

2025 Advocacy Weekend

Going to court for the first few times can be daunting. There is a lot going on and everyone else seems to know what they are doing.
The Piddington Society's Advocacy Weekend will help ease those stresses in a fun and supportive residential getaway weekend in Western Australia's Wheatbelt.
Adam Ebell (Acting Director of Legal Services, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions), supported by Amy Bradley (State Prosecutor), leads an exceptional line-up of judges and senior advocates to help guide you to grasp the essentials of courtroom advocacy.
Capped at a maximum of 36 people, the Weekend starts on the Friday night with a dinner between the coaches and participants. Saturday morning begins with lectures and Q&A's with the coaches. Following this, participants go to work in small groups where coaches rotate between the teams to provide advice on specific areas of advocacy, like cross-examination and preparation. Participants are supported to develop in their own way. After a test-run, feedback is provided to individuals which is followed by a demonstration in advocacy by the coaches. Sunday morning includes an ethics workshop and a second mock trial.
Attendees will be eligible for up to 6 CPD points, comprised of:
3 points in CA2 (Professional Skills), 2 points in CA3 (Ethics and Professional Responsibility) and 1 point in CA4 (Substantive Law).
Ticket price includes all accommodation and meals.
