Novice Power Lifting Comp 2025
About
Novice Power Lifting Comp 2025Day/Time: Sunday, 29th June 2pm-5pm
You are invited to our first female only community deadlift competition.
Come celebrate the end of the year with us!!
How does a deadlift competition work?
Fun and high energy environment. Each registered lifter takes turns to lift and gets three attempts to deadlift. After your initial lift, you must tell the judges your next weight attempt within the minute of your next lift. You can defer to your coach if you are unsure.
Judges are looking to see that you lockout the knees/hips. You must hold the weight until the “down” command. You can use chalk but no lifting straps or gloves.
For example: Leah trains hard and is dedicated to her program. She registers for the comp. On the day, she will go to the warm up area to warm up with the other participants. All lifters give their first attempt weight to the judges. Once the comp starts the lifters will line up according to their first weight attempt. The judge will call out, “bar is loaded” the first lifter will attempt to lift, hold the bar until the “down” command from the judge and if successful, it goes down on the judges record. The lifter writes down their next attempt weight within one minute and goes to the back of the line. The other lifters take their attempts while the crowd cheers them on. Lifters are supported to perform at their best on the day.
What happens if you miss your attempt?
You can retake that attempt on the next lift or choose to increase the weight. You can’t lower the weight from the previous attempt.
Why join and are there prizes?
Lifting comps are super exciting, the pressure and adrenaline often leads to an increase 1rep max, that is unavailable in training. It gives your training a goal when you program for peak strength.
There will be medals for 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. All participants go into the raffle for other random prizes.
Who can participate?

How to prepare?
Do your training. Get a program from your coach and follow it. Do your best to get sleep and eat well! Consistency is the key to great results!
