Crochet & Cocktails

About
Create your own hyperbolic geometry shape with yarn to celebrate National Science Week! Suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike, as we will split you into two groups on arrival to Birra Bar on ECU Joondalup campus. After you've got the hang of the pattern, sip on a specialty cocktail from the bar and socialise with other crafters. You can BYO yarn and hooks if you like (4mm, 8 ply yarn is best), or use our supplies on the night. You'll go home with a new piece of art for your home or office.
This is an 18+ event, supported by National Science Week and Inspiring Western Australia.
Date
Friday 15 August 2025 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM (UTC+08)
CRochet knowledge
We will work together to create a hyperbolic plane each. You can look in advance on the Maths Craft Australia website.
There are limited spaces for beginners who will learn the basics with Sami from Cloud Nine Yarns.
The free tickets are for experienced crafters, you will need to have mastered the basic crochet stitch to take part in the side by side workshop with Dr Julia Collins. It is not for absolute beginners, and you can bring your own yarn and hooks if you like (we recommend at least three colours to create your hyperbolic plane).
