Skin Care and Pressure Injury Prevention following Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Part -3This session Skin Care and Pressure Injury Prevention will be a practical hands-on session where participants will have the opportunity to learn and trial pressure injury prevention strategies as well as manual handling techniques.
The session will include the following:
1. Skin checks – how to do this and what to look for
2. Products to assist with bed positioning for pressure injury prevention
3. Bed positions for pressure injury prevention
4. Bed positions for pressure off set to facilitate wound healing – specific pressure injury sites
5. Manual handling – repositioning using double slide sheet method, sling insertion and removal to reduce shear and friction
