In this workshop, we’ll get hands-on with soil horizons – learning what A, B, and C horizons mean, and how to read soil layer numbers and codes. We’ll also practice working out soil texture with real samples.We’ll explore (virtually) two soil pits from the Eyre Peninsula, using them to show how you can quickly assess things like water holding capacity, erosion risk, land suitability, and key soil constraints – and what to do about them!
We’re excited to be joined by Dr Mel Fraser (Soil Function Consulting), who will help bring soil interpretation into real-world farming and land management.
