An anthology of four years of prize-winning fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry on the occasion of the 2025 Centenary of the Society of Women Writers NSW Inc
In 1925 a group of women writers and journalists met to form the Society of Women Writers. Over the ensuing decades, the Society’s goals of encouraging its members to write, network and achieve professional status have remained constant. The Society has published several anthologies of women’s writing. In 2015 Ink 3 (90 th ) anniversary edition adopted the theme, ‘Giving women a voice’.
Now in 2025, Ink 4 continues this tradition. Around sixty stories, essays and poems by fifty-two women writers continue to make their voices heard on topics ranging from tales of resilience and hardship, discussions of personal and public interest, conventional memoir and unconventional journeys, both historical and contemporary, the landscape of mountain and seaside. There are reflections on ageing and illness and tributes to women both past and present – in short, a snapshot of Australian women writing now.
