Learn the Ancient Art of Looping: Join Basketry Expert, Catriona Pollard as she teaches you the wonderful basketry technique of looping. You’ll use paper cord to weave around a jar and create a light, versatile looped basket form.
Create Your Own Sculpture Pieces: Once you’ve mastered the basic looped weave, you’ll craft several small baskets that become your personal contribution to our group project. You’ll take one of your baskets home.
Build a Collective Masterpiece: All your individual looped baskets will be joined into one stunning, large-scale sculpture—demonstrating how every person’s contribution strengthens the whole.
Why It Matters: Every loop you weave symbolises the power of individual effort. Together, we’ll transform many small creations into a single, breathtaking artwork to be exhibited at Sculpture on the Farm 29 – 31 August.
What You’ll Take Home: Your own looped basket, new weaving skills and the satisfaction of knowing you played a role in a community art project.

Unleash your creativity in this joyful, hands-on workshop with award-winning basketry artist Catriona Pollard. You’ll learn the ancient and beautiful looping technique using paper cord to craft your light, sculptural basket—no experience needed, just your curiosity and a sense of play.

Once you've mastered the basics, you’ll create a few more mini baskets—one to take home, and the rest will become part of a collaborative sculpture to hang atSculpture on the Farm, 29–31 August. Together, we’ll turn individual creations into a breathtaking, large-scale artwork that celebrates community, connection, and creativity.
