Getting your first gig in a script department can be tough—and while notetaking is often seen as the ‘entry-level’ way into a writers room, the reality is it takes anything but entry-level skills. The expectations can feel mysterious if you’ve never done it before.This hands-on workshop demystifies the writers room. We’ll dive deep into the role of the notetaker, with practical examples of how to craft clear, useful notes—and you’ll even take part in a mock writers room to try it for yourself.
We’ll also explore other entry points into screenwriting (in case notetaking isn’t your thing), and share tips on building real industry connections—even if you hate the idea of networking.
Expect a fun, open, and collaborative session where you'll learn about industry pathways and connect with fellow writers along the way.
