Opened in 1969, the Queanbeyan Museum is located in the historic 1876 Old Police Sergeant’s Residence. It has a broad collection of over 3,500 items, many of which are displayed in its ten galleries and outdoor areas. Join Sandra Hawke for a tour before we cross the road for morning tea at the new heritage library.Local History Librarian Brigid Whitbread is excited to show us her new premises for the region’s archive now accessed at the repurposed former Queanbeyan Council Chambers building – christened Frank Pangallo Heritage Library. It contains a wealth of historical resources from 1860s Queanbeyan Age, early rate books to the Sheedy Memorial Local History Collection and genealogy information.
