About

The Australian Mathematics Competition or AMC is one of Australia’s largest school-based mathematics competitions. It is an engaging 30-problem competition, open to students in years 3 to 12. Many academically focused private and public schools encourage all students to participate. The questions are based on the Australian curriculum, focusing on understanding and problem-solving, with little content beyond the syllabus. AMC has five divisions: Middle Primary (years 3–4), Upper Primary (years 5–6), Junior (years 7–8), Intermediate (years 9–10) and Senior (years 11–12). Primary divisions - 60 mins; Secondary divisions - 75 mins.

Our studio recommends using the AMC, especially the first 25 questions, to assess students’ daily learning. A Distinction (D) or High Distinction (HD) in Years 7–10 reflects strong mathematical ability and is often used by schools to determine eligibility for accelerated or advanced math classes. A small number of top performers in the Years 5–6 or 7–8 divisions (typically Prize winners with near-perfect scores) may be invited by the Australian Maths Trust (AMT) to join the AIMO, the selection pathway for the national Olympiad team.

澳大利亚最为普及和权威的数学竞赛，很多重视学术的私校和公校会推荐所有学生参加。比赛题目是基于澳洲数学大纲，侧重于理解和数学思维，超纲内容并不多。我们工作室建议学生用AMC作为日常学习的检验，尤其是前25题的正确率。AMC到7-10年级HD或者D能体现学生的数学基础和能力，很多学校用这个成绩来决定是否提前学习中数或者是否可以选择高数。
少数在5-6年级和7-8年级的比赛中取得优异成绩（近几年的标准是Prize，并接近满分）的学生，会被AMT邀请参加AIMO，也就是澳洲奥林匹克数学集训队的选拔赛，走真正的竞赛之路。

根据AMT要求，比赛需要在线下教室内，登陆官网系统参加测试

各位家长注意，请您先确认学校是否组织该考试，如果已经在学校报名并参加比赛，不可以在工作室再次参加比赛，否则会影响学生的比赛结果和证书，甚至取消比赛资格。
