In our year 11 KRB adaptation of Eugène Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano, we explore the existential emptiness of everyday life through absurdist comedy. By contrasting the mundane with the chaotic, we highlight the meaninglessness of social interaction, especially within the upper middle class. Our use of gradual visual absurdity aims to unsettle expectations and deepen audience impact. Set in 1960s London—an era of cultural rebellion—our performance similarly challenges theatrical norms. The intimate KRB drama suite allows us to immerse the audience, drawing them into a journey from predictability to absurdity, prompting reflection on how we communicate and why.Date
