The East Gippsland Communities for Children program will be hosting a free 4-hour training workshop for professionals working to support children aged 0 - 12 years. The workshop will be facilitated by Connected Minds Psychology. This training will focus on working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families to support culturally safe and trauma-informed practice.Key Outcomes: This workshop aims to provide the following:
A background of colonization, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal peoples social and emotional wellbeing
A deeper understanding of how trauma impacts the developing mind, brain and behaviour.
A walk through of the tools needed to provide trauma-informed responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to create safety and support their long-term development
Lunch and an opportunity for networking will be provided following the workshop (1 - 2pm)
