Radical Walking Tour Waterloo

About
Meet corner of Redfern and Regent Street, Redfern at the art installation the 'Bower'.Join local Waterloo resident and activist Karyn Brown who will take us through the working class history of Waterloo. Along with Andrew Chuter, long-term resident activist in Friends of Erskineville, active transport and public housing campaigner. A suburb with the most amount of concentrated public housing of any suburb, the neighborhood is leafy green, caring and well serviced by cheap-free food distributing community groups.
Because it is a public housing estate community, the cops over-police the neighborhood and have killed three Aboriginal men in the area, since 2004. Find out about family resistance to the police and the courage and community bonds that exist in Waterloo. The tour will explore the history of the public housing estate and current battle to save Waterloo against privatization and development.
