Guest Performer
This year's guest performer is Maeve Grieve. Maeve is a Melbourne-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist blending jazz, folk, and alternative rock into an intricate, narrative-driven sound. With a foundation in jazz and improvisation, Maeve’s music explores rhythmic independence, harmonic sophistication, and lyrical depth, resulting in compositions that are both emotionally resonant and technically nuanced. A first-class Honours graduate from the University of Melbourne, she has studied under acclaimed artists including Gian Slater, Theo Carbo, Brett Williams, and Dylan van der Schyff. Maeve’s debut EP MidnightCommute (2024), supported by multiple grants and released to a sold-out launch, marked her emergence as a bold new voice in Australia’s alt-jazz and indie-folk scene. Her work has received airplay on PBS, ABC, AMRAP, and Rage, and earned her the 2024 LUMINA Composition Award at the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival. Committed to authentic storytelling, innovative collaboration, and continual artistic growth, Maeve is currently developing her debut full-length album an ambitious project expanding on the eight original compositions from her 2024
Honours research.
