The Play Cycle - low intervention, high response
Play is simply the most important thing to children, it is the mechanism they use to engage with the world and the people around them, it is the way they build their bodies and their minds and develop a sense of who they are, and it is the way they experience pleasure, it satisfies their curiosity and drives them to new experiences and knowledge.
This session is perfect for early years educators and anyone working with children and young people. The role of the adult in supporting the playing child is full of contradictions – do we engage, do we sit back and watch? What do we do?
Marc Armitage from Malarkey Playwork will facilitate the session, exploring the concept of a low intervention high response approach used by playworkers to support play and help clear up some of the confusion of what we should be doing while children are playing around us.
