This workshop focuses on the pivotal role of vocabulary in supporting literacy across all secondary subject areas. The goal is to equip you with tools you can use immediately in your classroom to support students in building deep, transferable word knowledge. By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to embed vocabulary instruction into your everyday teaching, regardless of your subject area.Participants will:
• Unpack the disciplinary literacy needs of students in different learning areas.
• Identify key literacy strategies such as vocabulary building, guided reading, and text deconstruction.
• Examine case studies and real examples of literacy integration.
• Begin planning a lesson or sequence with embedded literacy strategies.
