Career Start Learning Alliance Meeting 3 | 2025 | SMA

About
This session will explore the profile of English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners in Southern Melbourne Area (SMA), what they bring to learning and the challenges they are likely to face in our classrooms every day. We will explore some of the key elements and understandings underpinning EAL teaching and learning, followed by approaches, strategies and resources that support and scaffold students from when they first arrive, through to acquiring spoken and written English. There will be opportunities for you to share your experiences with other graduates in your setting, whether primary, secondary, or special education. You will leave with key understandings and strategies you can use with your EAL learners and links to further resources to explore at your own pace.
