AABC Commemorative Service

About
The First Australian Imperial Force was our young nation’s contribution to the Allied forces in World War One, and bands were raised in virtually all of the infantry battalions to provide musical support for unit parades, to present concert performances, and to enhance the public image of the military in the eyes of the community. From those early days to the present, musicians have served their country with distinction and have adapted to ever changing job descriptions as dictated by Headquarters Army. The role of the service musician today is vastly different to that of the digger at Gallipoli. Whether it be on those WW1 battlefields, or the conflicts that followed through the last century, serving musicians have been prepared to give their lives for this nation.
Today we gather to honour our forebears who made the ultimate sacrifice.
