Self Assembly: A Participatory Creative Encounter

This is a FREE drop-in workshop – numbers limited. We encourage you to stay as long as possible to fully experience the creation and completion of this connected installation.
Level: Suitable for all ages and experience levels. Families, individuals and groups welcome. Also suitable for teaching artists and anyone who works with arts in community engagement.
View the final installation at the Kin Kin Market Sunday morning 6 July.
Join artist Simon Spain for a unique creative experience exploring selfhood, community, and the power of repair. In this transformative workshop, you’ll create figures using simple materials – sticks and plaster bandage – culminating in a connected installation that grows as each participant adds their figure to the evolving community.
Self Assembly invites participants of all ages to engage deeply with the process of making. Beginning with a pile of gathered sticks, you’ll build a figure representing yourself or someone important to you.
