Brave Talks 23 July

Brave Talks 23 July

hero
JewishCare and JCA The Choice Foundation are proud to bring you the first ever Brave Talks on the North on July 23.

Brave Talks creates an opportunity to open new conversations about mental health. Providing a trauma-informed space that privileges the wisdom of lived experience, Brave Talks seeks to reduce isolation, deepen our understanding and allow us to become empowered by the resilience of the human spirit.

By hearing one another and connecting through our shared human experiences; we can continue to challenge stereotypes, break cycles of shame, enable proactive help-seeking and ultimately support the well-being of our community.

Join us this Brave Talks as we continue to bring stories into light that would otherwise remain hidden.
Introducing our Brave Speakers...
ADELLE WIDOGER

For years, Adelle and her family enjoyed the benefits of multi-generational living. However, as her mother developed dementia, the simple joys became harder to find, requiring patience and creativity. Adelle knew the weight of impending loss, but couldn't have anticipated the physical toll grief would take on her body and heart. That you truly can die of a broken heart. Adelle shares her powerful journey of healing and physical recovery.

ROBYN GOLDIN

When Robyn became a single mother to her three beautiful boys, she knew her hands would be full. Navigating the daily stressors of motherhood, the anxieties and uncertainties, further complicated by each child's unique neurodivergent needs. Yet, she never anticipated the profound journey of discovering her own strength and what was truly possible. Robyn now shares her process of finding courage and compassion, knowing that with these qualitiies, anything is possible.

DANNY COHEN

After years of carrying an internal struggle he didn't understand, Danny's early twenties brought an overwhelming wave of intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and a deep depression. What followed was a personal journey through hospital stays, intensive therapy, and the steady presence of loved ones who never gave up on him. By sharing his story, Danny teaches us that even though mental illness can leave you feeling isolated and overwhelmed - healing is always possible - you can build a reach and meaningful life.

Please note, given the mature content, this is an 18+ event.
