About
Nillumbik Reconciliation Group invite the community to come together to celebrate William Barak, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and the 21st anniversary of Barak Bushlands.Barak Bushlands was named after Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung ngurungaeta (leader), Uncle William Barak who entered into the Dreaming when the wattle was in bloom in August 1903. He was an activist, leader, artist, diplomat and spokesperson for his people.
Join with us to honour William Barak, traditional owners, care for Barak Bushlands and protect the platypus by planting trees along the Diamond Creek.
Learn from Wurundjeri Elders, listen to the sounds of nature and the yidaki (didgeridoo). Welcome to Country and cultural performances from 11am.
Be part of the legacy of volunteers who have planted over 20,000 trees, shrubs and grasses transforming this former farmland into an urban wetland and bushland reserve.
