Meanwhile... Back At The Ranch return to The Wheatsheaf with their unique approach to the swing genre. This is not quite jazz and neither is it pure country... it's Western Swing. When the swing era took over the USA in the 30's and 40s, the Southwest had their own infectious variation. It was swing played with western instruments. Sometimes these songs were classic hits of the day, known to all swing fans and sometimes these were local favourites. In that tradition, Meanwhile... Back At The Ranch swings a wide variety of catchy songs using the instrumentation of America's southwest - guitars, fiddle, double bass etc. This music is still popular today, particularly in those regions where it originated. Texas, Oklahoma and even California. Numerous bands such as Asleep At The Wheel keep this musical tradition alive today. Many contemporary country and roots artists still feature western swing tunes in their repertoire.
