In Therapeutic Horticulture, supporting participants to make their own choices is essential for building confidence, independence and personal growth.Some health and disability professionals may know this concept as “Dignity of Risk”, but at Kevin Heinze Grow, we frame it as “Dignity of Choice”—reflecting our focus on empowering participants to make decisions, take risks and, when appropriate, step outside their comfort zone.
This seminar explores what both “Dignity of Choice” and “Dignity of Risk” mean in practice. We’ll discuss how these ideas show up in a garden setting and share real-world examples from Kevin Heinze Grow’s Therapeutic Horticulture programs.
You’ll leave with practical strategies for creating a safe, supportive environment that encourages participants to make decisions and build confidence—while balancing safety and opportunity for growth.
