Documentary Screening: CITIZEN GEORGE

CITIZEN GEORGE profiles 86-year-old Philadelphia Quaker activist George Lakey, a nonviolent revolutionary dedicated to justice and peace.
The documentary chronicles George's decades of activism—civil rights, anti-Vietnam War protests, LGBTQ advocacy, human rights work in Sri Lanka, and climate justice—while exploring his personal journey as husband, father, and openly gay man. Animated sequences inspired by graphic novels illustrate key life moments.
Since age 19, George has pursued using his gifts for social change. The film connects his various causes across decades, all grounded in Quaker faith.
