Year 11 Drama presents: Radium Girls

About
Based on an extraordinary true story, our Year 11 Drama production for 2025 is Radium Girls. This historical drama, set after the first world war, tracks the journey of Grace Fryer and her fellow dial-painters. These young girls left school to help the war effort by painting watch and instrument dials with a glow-in-the-dark radium based paint – a substance that they were assured was completely safe. Once the girls started to discover that the paint was making them sick they took the fight to the US Radium Corporation to seek justice – only to be denied and made to fight for their lives. This fascinating peek into history will be set against a hypnotic and radiant set that brings to life the sights and sounds of the 1920’s in a sharp, stylish production. The legacy and sacrifice of the Radium Girls can’t be understated as their battle paved the way for all companies to protect the safety of their workers.
